Children are so resilient! I am proud to be the teacher of wonderful fourth graders who are handling the current Covid-19 pandemic like champs. They wear their masks, accept plexiglass separation, and now will transfer into micro cohort groups of 10 or less students each instead of their current class size of 24. Students will need to adjust to spending their days with only their micro cohort while also practicing social distancing. From what I've seen so far this school year, these fourth graders will persevere through this with strength and determination.
My Project
This school year has definitely been a challenge. Our school has been able to continue face to face learning, but with Covid case numbers rising, we can only sustain face to face learning by moving to micro cohort groups. This means I will be traveling between two classrooms of 10 students each.
Students will be social distanced in each room so the floor sit spots and clipboards will give an alternative to desks for my students to work.
Each room will have an electric pencil sharpener to expediate the need for sharpened pencils each day. The language arts books will be used for differentiated small group work. The mailbox paper sorter will provide a place for students to place their take-home work. The book bins will allow me to sort and sanitize classroom library books so students can continue to have books available for their free reading time.
As a teacher who will be rotating between two rooms, the rolling cart storage unit will be beneficial. This will allow me to move books and other materials easily between rooms. I will also need a place to store basic supplies, such as post-it notes, paper clips, and scissors. The desk caddy will fulfill that need.
