Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Learning about colorful new worlds is the best part of Pre-K! Not having a projector or color printer definitely makes it harder.
My adorable 3-and 4-year-olds face many financial challenges both at home and in our high poverty Texas school district, which gives VERY little funding to early education.
Furthermore, they face the linguistic challenge of being monolingual Spanish speakers.
These "babies," as they are often referred to, are actually "mini-people" who can learn faster than any other age level in elementary school. Not only do they have a heightened learning ability, but they also have a huge desire to learn!
My Project
With an LCD projector I will be able to open up new worlds for these kids, most of whom can only describe their house, their school, and the local grocery store. Using our recently donated iPad, this projector will allow us to see stars & constellations, the Eiffel Tower, cultural celebrations from their native homes, and, of course, literacy and math videos and clips.
With the color printer, we can print out pictures from these and other resources to make books, labels, and words for our world wall, all scientifically proven to enhance literacy skills in their futures.
If you've ever tried explaining something to a 3 year old with a black and white photo or no media at all, you know it's difficult.
If you've ever interacted with someone born after 2000, you also know how much they LOVE technology and media! Please help me to help them learn through this new medium! Investing in early education means creating life-long learners and a better future for us all!
