This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students range with a variety of needs, from communication to sensory. We are a Title I school attempting to support the whole child in academics, social, and physical areas. We strive to give our students exposure to community jobs, roles, and real-life experiences. Our school community strives to meet all learners through a variety of engaging experiences and through hands-on learning.
My students deserve access to materials that assist them in practicing skills and allows them to engage in developmentally appropriate ways in the classroom.
My Project
My students need a picture globe to learn about the world, a mapping game to work on functional positional words while mapping a community, and multicultural people for the block area to engage in deeper conversations about similarities and differences of cultures. These items will help build compassionate citizens that respect others differences, learn that people around the world are similar to themselves. Learning about a larger world begins the process to having global citizens aware of others in diverse settings and accept each other. We also need bins to store all of these wonderful items so they can be used and stored safely.
