My students come to school every day excited and ready to learn! They are eager to learn and try new things. I want them to know that I believe in them and they can do anything! I teach at a Title 1, pre-k through 2nd-grade school in inner-city Ohio where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Most of the students are living at or below the poverty line. My students are creative, caring, and very energetic. Our classroom is a hands-on learning community. I work with children who are four and five-year-olds.
Their ability to love learning excites me to find new and exciting ways to teach things to them.
They love to learn about new things. They love to look up information online together and will ask many questions to learn as much as they can.
My Project
My children need materials to help them use their imagination to build and extend their thinking in our toys and games area. My students love to create structures with our legos but we lack other materials for them to build with.
We have asked for Pipe Builders, Star Builders, Waffler Builders, Shape Builders, Pegs and Peg Boards to extend their thinking.
These items will allow them to create different scenarios and design different types of structures. They can use these items by themselves or with a group of peers to help build their social skills. These items are not something that they can easily access because of their income level. I love being able to put things into their hands to extend their thinking.
