Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, energetic, and full of questions! They especially enjoy engaging in class discussions about real-word topics and collaborating with peers.
At the this young age my students are doing their best navigating remote learning during this time.
Our community in particular has been hit by COVID harshly and families are still experiencing financial burdens.
Additionally, many of my students have shared some of their struggles at home due to COVID. For this reason, I would like to support my class and their families by easing the financial burden and allocating learning materials necessary to successfully learn at home.
Our school is located on the South Side of Chicago and is full with diverse students who are encouraged to embrace their cultural, social-emotional, and academic backgrounds.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning as I will be able to provide quality images through the document camera instead of using my low quality phone. This document camera along with the LED light will allow for my lighting in presentations given to students better quality instruction.
I will also be able to utilize the laminator and printer ink to create necessary manipulatives my students need to successfully engage with for their learning.
These materials will overall allow for me to successfully teach from home as I will have access to items to create, engage, and support my students with. The materials within this project will help me bridge gaps seen when students' do not have access to materials at home.
Both students and I will be able to teach and learn through these materials as my work space at home will be fully equipped which will allow for me to create materials at home to send to my students.
