My students are from a small rural community and more than 70% are on free or reduced lunches. Many of them have difficulty bringing basic school supplies. In my class, I serve students with a wide range of abilities. I like to see that all students are learning and progressing toward their goals. I do not want a lack of resources to hinder my students learning or experiences.
I am always looking for ways to provide my students with all the materials needed to get them to the next level of greatness!
I am dedicated to providing the best environment for success for my students!
My Project
My firsties love using hands-on materials and learning resources that are not just in a book. The magnetic place value set and magnetic ten frame set will allow me to show my students how to use these materials on my whiteboard. I will place them on my magnetic whiteboard during my lesson. I will show the students where the base ten blocks go to learn about place value. I will show examples of teen numbers with the ten frame set. I will also use these materials in my small groups when students need additional support. In small groups the students will be able to touch the ten frame set and place value set. They can move the pieces around on the table and workout the problems.
These hands-on materials will help my students understand the concepts I'm teaching and stay engaged throughout my lessons.
The puzzle globe will let me teach about the world and students can actually put the pieces back on the globe while naming the continents and oceans. The magnetic blocks will be used for STEM activities and for early finishers to stay engaged throughout the school day. The students will be able to build different towers and 3D shapes with the magnetic blocks. My class needs stamp pads to stamp papers when students show understanding of what was taught. My students also need laminating pouches to laminate centers to use during place value and base ten lessons. This will make sure they have the materials they need during math.
