My students need 10 copioes of "The Berenstain Bears' Trouble with Money," 20 copies of "The Best Yard Sale," and a variety of other children's economic books.
Do you remember falling in love with great children's literature? Great books help engage students in economic concepts.
I teach Kindergarten at a K-5 school serving an urban population of around 520 students.
Our school is very diverse, with students from countries and cultures around the world. My school district is one of the largest in the state. There are four kindergarten classrooms within my school and each classroom has 20 students. I teach students with a wide range of learning abilities.
My Project
My students are very inquisitive about community helpers and the tools they use to do their job. They want to know what the community helpers study in school to do their jobs, what tools they use, if they need special clothes or special training. This inquisitiveness provides a natural bridge to my favorite topic - Economics!
Using the children's books such as "Zookeepers" and "Astronauts", students can start their journey into the world of community helpers, learning about the natural resources, capital resources, and human resources in their community and the goods and services they provide.
Your donation will provide my students with great children's books that will allow them to learn about capital and productive resources.
This will engage my students and help prepare them to take their place in our global market.
