Teaching Diversity, Cooperation and Love in First Grade!
My students need new books that will help them to become more aware of others around them, especially those that are different. They will learn to celebrate diversity! They also need organizers.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help my class to learn about the diversity of people all over the world without actually traveling the world! Some of the children in my class have never been outside the city but they will learn about the world anyway! They will delve into books that will show them diversity and beauty.
I teach an amazing group of first graders every year.
They attend a Title-1 school where parents may not be able to provide a lot of financial support but do their best to help in other ways. The children in my class are so curious about the world. They always start the school year ready to learn as much as possible! Since they are so young, they have not yet built their background knowledge. They need to have experiences with books, field trips, and exciting and engaging lessons to help build that knowledge. Every year I try to expose them to as many books and experiences as possible to help their growing minds and to build that strong foundation!
My Project
I am requesting multicultural books about diverse families and people. I have selected books that will help open the minds and hearts of my students. I have also requested two sets of book bins that will help protect our cherished books properly.
These books will help build community in my classroom during the first months of school. I will use them to teach cooperation, understanding, and to celebrate differences!
