Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students come from across our city and our entire school qualifies for free lunch and transportation to and from school based on the fact that the majority of our students live below the poverty level.

Despite the issues facing our students, they come to school every day and persevere.

Most every student attends college post-graduation. Our students need any support available, as our school and district often cannot provide the resources necessary for our students to compete with other high schools in our region.

My Project

I will use this iPad and Sphero robot in my school to help introduce students to coding. Sphero is a great robot for students to get a chance to play with - they can control the robot and learn coding at the same time. They will use the iPad to download the correlating apps.

With your help, I will add an iPad and Sphero to the assortment of technology that I have available for use in our school.

They would learn how to work together in STEAM centered activities focusing on a common goal. Effective collaboration is a challenging skill to teach and adding Sphero Bolts to our school would be a great way to learn this skill. The skills they would acquire would greatly benefit them as they grow as little coders.
