Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work in a school full of very active boys and girls. My students are in a low income area and they need just as much access to technology as students who are not in low income areas.

These students are smart and love to work hard.

They make sure that they come to school most days and they want to be able to do their work with no obstacles. They strive for greatness any time it's time to shine.

My Project

Most of my students' struggles academically and with being engaged in the classroom don't come from them not being smart or able to do the work, but they mostly come from trauma experienced at home, and emotional struggles in and outside of school. A lot of times these issues go unaddressed, or they are addressed in the wrong way (suspensions, infractions etc.) I am teaching them how to use the audio and DJ equipment at school in order to give them and outlet and keep them focused and motivated. This speaker will help my students continue to learn how to use the audio equipment, and this speaker will help complete the package that we have.

Teaching these kids how to use this equipment has been increasing students' ability to express themselves, but most importantly it has been teaching these kids a skill set that they can use later in life when they go out into the workforce.

With your generosity, I hope that I can make sure these kids have everything they need to get a better chance in creating a more positive future, and give them a skill set that they will have the rest of their lives.
