Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, resources are limited, especially for the special education program. I teach 1st and 4th grade students with a variety of learning and emotional disabilities. Most of my students have a second disability due to ADHD and ADD. Although my students face many challenges on a daily basis that does not stop them from being happy and eager to learn. I have a variety of personalities in my classroom but at the end of the day they all come together as a family.
My students face many challenges in and out of the classroom, and now with Distant Learning being a reality, they are really struggling to find comfort learning from home.
My Project
As a special education teacher it is my responsibility to provide students with classroom accommodations as well as modified assignments. During these difficult times it has been very hard for me to do this. Our school district sent out packets for all students but the packets are at grade level.
Since most of my students are unable to get on a device to ZOOM with me, I need to create reading, math, and writing packets.
I have few resources at home to help my students. I these need Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards to be able to provide my students with assignments at their level.
