Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our classroom is our home and our classmates are our family. We chose to create a calm, safe environment where each and every one of the family members can become: a scientist, a mathematician, creator, artist, thinker, speaker, friend, reader, coder, helper and courageous leader. We make goals and celebrate when we meet them. We make mistakes and we talk through them and learn.

We aren't perfect, but we strive to grow, to learn, to laugh, to do and be better each and every day.

We take learning seriously, but do it with a smile because school NEEDS to be fun.

We are a true family.

My Project

This conference will help me grow professionally because I will receive 3 full days in a New Zealand school learning about their educational practices and structures. We will be trained on practices that we can apply into our own classrooms, learn about culture and diversity differences and how we can better understand and relate to our own students.

We will be able to collaborate with different teachers all over the world and share our practices with one another.

My students will benefit because I will be able to implement these new practices into my classroom to help them reach their goals and ultimately become life long learners. I will have a better understanding of different cultures and how different kids around the world learn. Cross-cultural learning is crucial in our global world!
