I need some resources to help me support my students during literacy instruction: writing strategies, focused poems, and development materials for small group instruction or individual conferring.

My Students

My classroom is filled with first and second graders who are motivated to learn! Many of the students I teach are English learners, and they are excited to practice new skills and share fresh information. I am excited to work with this combination 1st and 2nd grade class to really focus on each student's personal academic growth. I think it will be an opportunity to build leadership capabilities and foster mentorships within our school. This is going to be a great year!

My Project

This year I will be teaching a combination first and second grade class. I want to read about different ways to improve my small group instruction and individual conferring so that I can support my students while they reach their goals! This year I have used the Jennifer Serravallo Reading Strategies book and found it to be really helpful as an educator. I am hoping to obtain the Writing Strategies book to further support my students in their writing goals. I also want to utilize focused poetry to improve their fluency. I think that these resources will really help my students!
