This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Making learning hands-on and exciting is an everyday goal in my classroom. Teaching a classroom of ELL students is an amazing and challenging experience. Every word and experience is completely new and assists them in building the background knowledge they desperately need to succeed.
Studies show building a solid foundation in dual languages not only helps students make connections to build their second language, but also helps them find success on standardized testing.
Our students are brave, curious, and quick to observe all the things put in front of them. That is why I strive to ensure everything put in front of them is quality. Due to our high level of poverty and lack of access to technology, I feel like it is my duty to give them those experiences that will build their curiosity and put them on the path to becoming lifelong learners!
My Project
By purchasing this gift card, our students will be able to access materials to go with our units and make learning more interactive. Additionally, the creators of these items are all teachers so they will be paid for their hard work. They produce the items and then sell them to other teachers for classroom use. This is a win/win situation for students and teachers. We will be purchasing resources to go with the texts, "Refugee" and "Enrique's Journey". We will also purchase items to prepare for the SAT and standardized testing in order to promote first-hand practice and experience. Thanks for your time and consideration!
