Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 6th-grade mathematics. My students are between the ages of 10 and 11 years old. My students struggle greatly with math. Many of them are unable to understand how to solve a problem because they have language barriers. These barriers inhibit the children from being able to understand the word problems.

Many of my students come from low socioeconomic households.

They do not have the means to be able to find outside help to learn what they struggle with inside the classroom.

My Project

Most of my students have chosen to learn remotely this year. I need to change my entire curriculum to meet these needs. This computer will help me create new and engaging lessons for my students. I spend my entire school day using a computer to teach my students through google meet. It is very hard to accomplish this when the computer I am given is old, outdated, and very slow. My students are always saying that I'm lagging and they can't hear me.

This computer will help me engage better with my students.

With the new technology, I'll be able to record myself teaching for students to use at any time while they are at home. I will also be able to use the apple programs to create new "worksheets" for my students.

My students are eager to learn this year! They are trying their best to learn in an unprecedented time during history. I would do anything I can to give these students the best and most memorable year they can get!
