My Students

I have been a first grade teacher for 17 of my 20 years of teaching and could not imagine doing anything else. My students are curious about the world around them and always eager to learn.

Every year I have students that range in ability from severely below grade level to extremely above grade level.

I have always had students with special needs included in my classroom. The needs vary from year to year. While I have the tools to meet the needs of most students, I still have the desire to learn more in order to meet the needs of all students.

My Project

I am requesting funds to attend a national conference on best practices for first grade. These practices will help meet the needs of my students. This four-day conference will provide me with invaluable information that I will be able to take back with me to improve my practice when school resumes in the fall. My students will benefit because differentiated instruction is an essential classroom practice if all students are to have equal opportunities to learn. Using the information I learn, I will be able to plan lessons that best support the learning of each student in my classroom.

This conference will allow me to differentiate my classroom instruction to improve on meeting the needs of individual students.

The knowledge that I learn from this conference will allow me to help countless learners increase their knowledge by providing them with instruction suited just for them. Thank you for your consideration in supporting my project.
