This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is in a high poverty and crime ridden area of Chicago. Some of our students have already lost a parent or someone in their lives to violence. With that said, my students are amazing. They are inquisitive and eager learners!
Our school budget was cut once again.
The schools just don't have the funds to help teachers as they once did. Teachers like me spend money on our students very often. Now, I am hoping to be able to provide some of essential items with your help!
My Project
My students would benefit greatly from a kidney shaped table. I would be able to work small groups with more students than just the two I can currently fit. These types of tables are highly effective for the teachers and students because the teacher can visually see everyone and more students are able to do peer work, thereby learning from their peers as well.
Unfortunately there is no money in our budget for furniture.
These tables are hard to come by used, so I am hoping to get a new one funded. I know that my current students and all future classes will benefit greatly!
