My students are hard-working and dedicated Advanced Placement students. The typical student in my classroom is driven and focused on their future success. They want to learn and are excited to move forward in education to achieve goals that members of their family may not have had the opportunities to reach. We are a small group within the school and sometimes overlooked for funding for resources due to other needs of the school.
Our resources are outdated, nonexistent, or dilapidated, and we need your help for our success!
We want to use the best tools to achieve our goals!
My Project
Each day, my students come to my class and have just lost a pencil, run out of notebook paper, and/or broke an already fragile crayon/marker/colored pencil or lose a pair of scissors while working on their novel projects (which we like to hang on the walls - we need heavy duty tape to get things to stick to this concrete). I constantly supply these to my students from my own pocket, but I would appreciate some help. It's easier to just hand a student a pencil than spend ten minutes berating the child about his/her lack of writing utensil. I'm aiming for their success, not to tear them down over a missing school supply.
I also find myself tripping over laptop cords running all across the classroom since we are so fortunate to have technology in our rooms.
A few larger surge protectors plus a long extension cord will help alleviate these disaster areas.
Our manual pencil sharpener sometimes works and students typically end up with half the amount of pencil they started with because the sharpener breaks the pencil instead of sharpening it.
We also like to play vocabulary review games using the whiteboard and need extra expo markers to have enough for all of the students.
