Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 4th-grade students are inquisitive children with a love for learning. They tackle any challenge I give them and continue to surprise me with their perseverance. However, my kids have invisible hardships that can have a detrimental effect on their learning. Three-quarters of the students on my campus come from low-income households. The hidden burden from these statistics means many students do not get the opportunity for hands-on, real-world experience before starting school. Thus, school becomes the place where they learn to collaborate, play, and gain experience.
Despite their hardships at home, my students have a passion for learning through novel studies, hands-on activities, technology, and collaboration.
Our classroom community has become a place for students to learn through mistakes. They learn to take risks, rely on one another, and learn conflict resolution skills by working in groups.
My Project
In order to meet the needs of students, teachers spend their own money each year to buy student-centered, good quality resources. One resource, Teachers Pay Teachers provides an amazing outlet for teachers to earn money on their created product while also ensuring students around the country receive adequate resources.
The money provided in this grant will allow me to give back to our nation's community of teachers while providing me the ability to gather resources to help teach America's youth.
I am excited to buy activities from Texas teachers like The Science Penguin and Watson Works. The work created by these teachers are engaging, hands-on, and allow for group work. Thank you for considering donating to our class project.
