Every day, students enter my classroom with a desire to learn and grow. They are curious about the world and each other. My science students explore the world through scientific inquiry and engineering to develop an understanding of how things work and begin to creatively design their own solution to everyday problems. My AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) students work diligently to learn skills and strategies that will help them become college and career ready.
Many of my students come from different cultures with more than 26 different languages spoken at home in our school.
I also have English language learners and special education students integrated into all of my classes. Every day, I work hard at differentiating my instruction to meet the needs of all of these students.
My Project
My classroom is a high energy environment where students are collaborating daily around our science learning. My teaching style is not one of standing in front of the class giving a lecture, but one of guiding and facilitating students as they inquire about questions around science topics at their table. Being stuck at the front of the room with my iPad connected to my projector limits my ability to move around the room throughout instruction and student collaboration time. Apple TV would allow me to cast my iPad to my projector wirelessly from anywhere in the room. Students would also be able to cast their Chromebooks wirelessly to the Apple TV to show their work and thinking.
