Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is in a Title I district. All of our students automatically qualify for free or reduced-price lunch due to the economic status of our community. Many of our parents are employed as field workers, where paychecks can be small or sporadic, especially in winter when there is not much work. More than half of my class speaks English as their second language, and some have special needs. With that being said, they all love to come to school and want to learn. They deserve all the resources we can give to help them to be successful in school.
My Project
Students need headphones so they can hear and concentrate on the material being presented and not get distracted. Students will be able to listen and learn. These headphones will allow them to focus on their own progress. During their time on the computer, I can focus on helping other students in small groups. The headphones we currently have are over a decade old. Over time, I have had to throw several headphones away because they quit working properly. Currently, I only have a handful of headphones that work. We need headphones to learn on our computer programs. I selected headphones with a comfortable padding that can be easily disinfected so that multiple students can share them throughout the day. Hopefully since they look sturdy, they should last for many years to come!
