My Students

Teaching 2nd grade is definitely an adventure. My students are 7 and 8-year-old children diverse in race, language, culture, family structures, and socioeconomics. Some students have been unable to attend school consistently due to immigration situations, others live in poverty or dysfunctional family units where trauma is just part of life. In spite of these differences, this active group of 2nd graders has one important thing in common.

They come to school eager to learn, form friendships, and experience new opportunities.

Second grade is a magical time in a child's life. Eight-year-olds are curious learners. For many of my students, a school is a safe place where they will be taken care of and loved.

My Project

Children today seem to be born with the ability to understand and navigate technology. Our school has invested in research-based reading and math programs that are engaging and help increase student learning. It is a huge problem when headphones break and no longer work. Can you imagine a class of 20 students on computer programs without the benefit of headphones! The room instantly becomes a place of noise and confusion.

I want to purchase Heavy-Duty Headphones, simple in design and with fabric-covered cords.

Quality headphones will not only save my sanity, but they will also allow my students to hear and concentrate on the computer curriculum.
