Teacher Development Books: Because Reflective Teachers Are Best for Students
I need teacher development books for my summer reading. It's that time of year, again! Time to reflect on the previous year and look forward to improving my practice to be even better next year.
I teach in a suburban neighborhood school that also serves as the EL Magnet school for my area. Some of my students are gifted, some receive special education services, some just have to get up and move all day, and most need to chat about their learning.
My students are a diverse bunch.
Some speak multiple languages and have traveled very far distances to join me in my classroom. Some have lived in the same suburban home their entire lives. They are a great mix of eager minds and I'm always working to strengthen their community in the classroom. They all share an eagerness for learning and growing.
My Project
This was a good school year! My students improved in so many areas. I sat back and marveled at the classroom community we developed, I celebrated their growth on standardized tests, and I beamed with pride for all they've learned.
As I move forward into next year, I am reflective and energized.
I am eager to capitalize on what worked this year and inform my practice to be even better next year. These books will become my summer reader in my relentless efforts to be the best educator I can be for my students.
This past year, I began creating a Visible Learning classroom and was so pleased with the results. These books will help me continue that journey, inspire creative and engaging student-driven lesson planning, and help me guide my students toward the use of my District's new proficiency scales.
