Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students want to succeed in school and in life. As a teacher, in a high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. With the effects of Hurricane Irma these challenges have been even greater. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences that help me bridge the gap that they are facing.
My students come from a low socio-economic status household, are the lowest 35% of the reading at the school , and many have special needs.I need to do all I can, during school hours, to help these students progress to well-developed, smart young men and women who will make a difference in the world.
To effectively teach students in a wide range of levels, I need many resources. Help me bring in the necessary materials to help my students succeed in school.
My Project
I am requesting airfare funds to attend a two-day conference at the Teach Your Heart Out Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have a passion for being an educator and I am always interested in new, innovative teaching methods that will give my students the ability to succeed. During the conference, I would get to spend two days with the Teach Your Heart Out team as they share their passion for education and give their tips, best practices, and teacher secrets, to building a successful and engaging classroom for my students in science and math. I will be able to learn different strategies to teach my students financial literacy so they can become independent adults that are successful in life.
This conference will help me become a better science and math teacher so I can challenge my students and leave them hungry to learn more.
