My Students

Do you remember being in a classroom and you couldn't find the right book to read, or you were finished with all of your assignments and had nothing else to work on?

My twenty-three 3rd grade students are generous, appreciative, energetic, and always wanting to learn.

The school that I teach at is 63% economically disadvantaged, however, we are able to sustain an effective state rating. Because our class sizes keep growing, I am always looking for ways to meet the needs of all learners. As we all know, students learn in different ways, such as visual, auditory, or hands-on. What better way to meet the needs of all learners than with a tablet?

My Project

In my classroom, I do a substantial amount of guided teaching in small groups. During these group times, I would love to give individuals, or partners, a chance to use a tablet to play review games, or read books using this new type of technology. I am very familiar with games that can be downloaded, as well as books that the students would love to read. The tablet can also be used as a positive reinforcement tool that the students will love.

Due to many of our students being economically disadvantaged, it is my goal to introduce them to as much technology as I can throughout the school year.

I want to motivate them to become active readers, and learners. One way of doing this is to receive a tablet for my classroom.
