My students need 15 silent reading books about science and math to stir up their curiosity, educate, as well as to meet district goals and standards to improve reading in all content areas.
Teach us something new today, teacher!
I teach middle school science in a middle school/high school combo. public school in a very rural, very economically depressed area in Oregon.
Although I teach regular science education, I have approximately 14 special needs students and 3 ELL students who struggle with the science curriculum.
My students need to silent read daily for 10-15 minutes to meet their daily/weekly reading goals in the content areas. We desperately need more science books that will interest students, yet reach them at their level.
I need approximately 15 science books for silent reading time that will be in a basket at the front of the room for students to read at the beginning of each class. The variety that I selected will appeal to many interests, as well as reading levels and abilities.
Your donation gives my students the chance to read better, read more, learn about science, and ultimately graduate from high school; knowledge is power!
