My Students

I am a recent college graduate who has begun my career as a 7th grade ELA teacher in a small rural community in Michigan. In the time I have spent in the district, with students, and with staff, I am excited to call this new school home.

Each of my students has a unique quality and personality that has helped to solidify my choice in becoming an educator.

They constantly surprise me with what they are capable of, and have really taught me the power of setting high expectations. I walk into work everyday with a genuine smile on my face, and I hope my students feel the same way when walking into my classroom. I have no doubt that the future doctors, lawyers, veterinarians, etc. that are in my classroom today will make the world a better place tomorrow.

My Project

As teachers, it is our responsibility to learn just as much as our students do in order to stay up to date on best practices. We need to ensure that our lessons are engaging and interesting for today's students, and technology is a major component of that.

The annual MACUL conference is known around the state as the best conference to attend in order to learn about the newest technology tools and trends.

I attended the 2019 MACUL conference last year, and the amount of knowledge that I gained from a single day was immeasurable. Many of the tools and knowledge that I gained at that conference are ones that I use within my classroom today, and I have even shared many of them with colleagues in my district.

This year, I hope to be able to do the same thing and gain even more knowledge by attending both days of the conference in Grand Rapids.
