Help me give my students the opportunity to grow their own vegetables and flowers and be able to donate plants to help others do the same.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I fondly refer to my 18 students as the best kept secret in town. My hard working group of students are ages 18 - 21 and remain in school until age 21 before starting their life in the world of work or in a supported environment. Our class is housed in a large high school whose entire student population receive free lunch are a low-income/high poverty school district. My students come from varying education levels, backgrounds, living situations and have a variety of disabilities. Even with all of this variety, they are one wonderful hard working compassionate group of young adults who willingly give back. While in school, the students day consists of classroom time, daily volunteering at a variety of community placements and time for a recreational activity that provides the students with the opportunity do something fun.
My Project
Our high school grow room is under utilized and waiting for us to take it over with greenery! The materials I'm asking for are to provide my students the opportunity to plant and grow vegetables and flowers for their own gardens, and for the garden of others. This life skill instills in my students the need to take care of something, get outdoors and the joy of watching what they grew become something they can eat. This will allow students to give back to the community placements at which they volunteer by providing plants for their raised gardens so the elderly or wheelchair clients can also enjoy growing their own plants. Add to that the opportunity of gaining the knowledge of growing which can be transferred to employment or to adult post secondary programs which have green houses or a horticulture component.
