The students of The Capitol Encore Academy are creative, innovative and resourceful. They are Kindergarten-7th grade, and come from extremely diverse social and economic backgrounds. They travel from 6 counties to reach school every day. TCEA is a free public charter school, Title I, and 51% of our students qualify for the free/reduced lunch program. K-4th grade students all attend Visual Art every week, in addition to Music, Dance, Drama and Media Arts. This year, 5th-7th grade students may choose to focus on Visual Arts every day for half the year, with a second group of elective students the second half of the year. It addition, all students participate in the Arts Integration program.
"It's not about what it is; it is about what it can become." Dr. Seuss.
Without TCEA's integrated arts and electives program, these students may not have access to quality learning in the arts. While I've watched my student create amazing things with trash and rubber bands, they need access to quality art materials in order to grow and expand their skills as visual artists. With the right tools, we can create anything!
My Project
Possibilities for creating are endless with the right tools in our hands. The TCEA Visual art supply budget is very small. My project funds will be used to purchase art supplies to cover drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, 3D and mixed media units,
With the right tools, we are capable of creating anything.
Help me expand the world of art for my students with these supplies to a world of endless imagination and limitless potential. The resources in my cart on this project are all various art supplies that I have not been able to purchase due to the very tight school budget. This cart includes resources such as paint, pastels, charcoal, drawing materials and boards, a projector, papers and substrates, printmaking and 3D media supplies. These resources will be used to cover units and projects in drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture and printmaking for all students this school year. Students will use these resources to create their projects in visual art class and to present exhibits and art nights throughout the year, gaining valuable real-world experience in arts. Due to tight budget restraints and the diverse demographics of our school, I will not be able to purchase these art supplies for our K-7 visual art classes without funding this Donor's Choose Project. Help our student create all they are capable of imagining with enough quality art supplies to last all year!
