Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach third grade at Valle Vista in San Jose. My school is 49% free lunch, and 40% are English Language Learners Did you know Math could taste good? Well, it can with the Snack Math book collection. Each book uses fun treats such as M&Ms, Twizzlers, and Reese's Pieces to build skills such as skip counting, estimation, patterns, geometry, data analysis, and problem-solving. The students will use the treats printed on each page to figure out the answers to essential concepts. I would also like the Math literature collection to reinforce these same math concepts, and many more, with select children's literature. Who knew Math could be so much fun? Help me share this notion with my students!! We would love to read, use, and learn about math from The Snack Math Book Collection, Math Literature Collection, Dollars & Sense Library, Beginning Measurement Theme Book Library, and How to Use Children's Literature to Teach Mathematics from Lakeshore Learning.
