Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” Dr. Seuss

My students come with various learning disabilities.

Their disabilities range from Autism, Asperger's, Speech & Language, FAS, TBI, ADHD, and Memory, however, they are the hardest working students I've ever had. Even when they begin to lose focus they're always trying their best. My students come from low economic households. Our school is a Title I school, where most students receive free school lunch.

We do not have the resources to provide all necessary materials, and it is difficult for their parents at times to send in their child's school supplies. I strive each day to make a difference in my students' lives and tell them how much I believe in them and how the world is a better place because they are in it!

My Project

Special needs students learn best through targeted small group instruction. With our various degrees of learning disabilities, it is essential to have various locations around the room for small group instruction.

Our class desperately needs a rug, so that we can have a dedicated area to provide students with the differentiation they need to succeed.

This rug will allow for small group instruction so that every learner can be reached. The rug also allows for each student to have a private learning environment, so that they can focus during their targeted instruction.

This project will improve my classroom because many of my students need targeted small group instruction in order to be successful.

Students will be able to improve their confidence, as they learn topics at their own ability level. Having a dedicated area will make transitions smoother and differentiated materials will be readily available.
