My students need 24 kid-friendly headphones to use during computer lab time.
This project expired on March 2, 2013.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Sometimes the simplest things keep us from utilizing the most complicated ones! Our flimsy, ill-fitting headphones with long cords hinder our little learners from focusing on the learning in the computer lab.
The students that visit our computer lab range from preschoolers to fifth graders.
Our community is a rural Missouri community. Often, the computers at school are the only computers these kids use. They get excited to learn to grasp even simple rote concepts using basic technology and online resources.
The computer lab in our elementary school building is utilized for learning keyboarding, supplementing our math program, research, diagnostic and prescriptive reading testing, as well as enrichment activities. We own very basic, cheap sets of headphones for the lab. These headphones are made to fit adult heads and often break easily as students try to keep them in place. The cords are long and get tangled between computers and even in chairs. Simply untangling these can waste precious time which could be spent learning. They are a distraction and a hazard! Twenty-four sets of new, coiled cord headphones would not only solve these problems, it would also tell our students that this lab is for them. It is a computer lab for kids, and we would have headphones just for kids in it. With these 24 new headphones, students could get right to work on the program at hand without wasting time playing "follow the cord" to unravel a knot.
Our elementary school's focus is on kids learning.
New headphones for our computer lab will help students know that this is their lab. Such a gift will also ensure more learning time, which is something we can never get enough of.
