Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the most amazing opportunity to teach 19, enthusiastic, hardworking, and charismatic first graders. My students come to school each day wanting to learn something new. They are future doctors, teachers, engineers, and much more. I am so grateful to be a part of their educational journey.
Our school is an urban school that serves mostly low-income students.
All of the students at our school qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Students are in school from 7:15 AM to 4PM, making it an extended day to maximize learning. My classroom is wonderfully diverse with students from many different countries, backgrounds, and cultures. Please help me make my classroom a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment so I can meet the individual needs of all my students!
My Project
I have a wide range of learning abilities in my classroom. It is my goal to be able to give students, of all abilities, tools that will help push them out of their current reading and math level. In other words, by having supplemental resources like leveled books, tactile word cards, and math manipulatives. I will be able to support students outside of what is given to me through my school district.
This project will help enrich student understanding so they are able to reach the curriculum in a way that supports their learning style.
In order to do this, I am asking for leveled books that will support students at a variety of reading levels, tactile word cards so students can practice making words in a kinetic way, and math manipulatives in order to practice breaking numbers into smaller parts in a tangible way. This project truly will give me the resources I need to make learning "long-term" in my classroom. I am so thankful for your support and generosity!
