My Students
As a teacher in a high poverty school district, I work with students that are faced with challenges in and outside the classroom. Despite the challenges my students face, they persevere. My student are high energy, communicative, and enthusiastic learners. They have a lot of energy and are always looking for a fun way to learn. They love to get involved with the lesson in whatever way possible.
My students love to show off their work and teach their peers.
They are excited to teach each other, both in groups and in front of the class. My students are visual learners. They love to use different resources in the room to show learning strategies to their friends. The students are a great group of mathematicians, scientists, writers and artists.
My Project
Science and History are subjects that many students love because you can experience it in an experiment or a reenactment. Other students like reading or hearing about it. This style of learning though does not work for all of my students. Many of my students prefer to watch and listen to history and science.
The students in my room that are visual learners prefer when they can watch a documentary or video clips to help them understand the concept we are learning.
My students need DVDs about History and Science to help them learn. DVDs like School House Rock, Magic School Bus and Liberty Kids allow my students to watch individual episodes or segments to help them understand a concept in a fun format. The American Revolution Documentary allows my students to watch history in a format that is different than Liberty Kids. The external dvd drive will allow us to watch the DVDs as a class or allow me to set up the DVDs as a station for students to watch on a rotation.
