We are a group of hard-working first graders in Franklin, TN! First grade is such a fun grade to teach. They are very eager to learn and so excited to start reading! My school is a Title I school where over 50% of the kids receive free or reduced-price lunch. These kids come from very diverse homes, and many of them are English language learners.
I am looking forward to a great year with a group of first graders who are so eager to learn and who I can help develop a love for school.
The students who will directly benefit from this project are six and seven-year-old kids who are very eager to learn and be successful.
My Project
My students struggle with math fluency. I believe with your help the ETA Hand2Mind Daily Math Fluency kit will support my students. Currently, we have daily math talks with tools I have created, but I would love these resources to make our math talks more engaging for students! Students will be able to use this tool on a daily basis to get the practice they need to develop their math fluency and number sense. This kit will open up new doors for our daily number talks and my small group instruction.
For students to feel successful in math they also need to feel confident.
The ETA Hand2Mind Daily Math Fluency kit, I believe will encourage kids to contribute more and become mathematicians. This kit comes with math manipulatives that will engage my students and will allow them to think of numbers in a flexible way. I'm excited about the potential this kit will provide to our classroom!
