Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher at a Title I Renaissance school in FL. My students live in an area of extreme poverty and 98% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school is a community school that provides many resources to the parents and students (i.e. health support, on-site food pantry).
Our PreK students are identified with developmental delays, speech and language delays, Down Syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy.
The majority of them are just learning to talk, and some are learning to walk with assistance. My students need hands-on learning materials to help them learn readiness skills through play.
My students are three to four years old, they are open to every possibility, and need to feel safe, loved, and valued.
My Project
We have an unit about nature that I need books for, I'm requesting some new ones that look so good. Books are the best way to illustrate the subjects we are learning.
A talking globe is an awesome help to learning about our world and start our lessons on maps.
We draw a map of our room and of our neighborhood to try to learn about maps.
I've asked for some paper punch outs that we will use for decorations in the room and crafts the kids make. This will make our lives easier.
