My students need materials such as the Magnetic Language Rods and Photo Library, which are engaging to help them build expressive and receptive language skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work with wonderful, kind, hardworking students who are all hearing impaired.
My students are living in a mainly hearing world, with less than perfect hearing.Throughout the year, they work hard on developing their expressive and receptive language.
My students go to their local elementary school and participate fully in their mainstream classes. They receive extra support so they can learn how to listen and talk. Each and every day my students come to school ready to learn and expand their language
My Project
I work with my students to develop more language. I like to use developmentally appropriate and engaging activities to help them develop these skills. My students will use the story telling puppets to act out stories and songs. From my experience, children love retelling familiar stories and songs! From these activities students will learn how to communicate with others and will be able to connect with others in their classroom and community.
Donations to this project will help my students become engaged within their classroom and help them to become confident in talking within their language filled world.
My goal is for my students to WANT and LIKE to talk! My students' lives will improve because they will have the tools and activities to help their communication skills improve. These skills are the basis for all communication to come!
