Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are going to be world changers. They are bright, caring, resilient, and full of courage. They are excited about learning and are ready to take on new challenges every day. Most of them come from low economic households and have to fight hard for their opportunities, but they show up each day eager to learn and with smiles on their faces.These middle schoolers are ready to make an impact in their families, school, community, and beyond!

Many of my students are highly interested in reading more about history and science, but our classroom library is lacking resources in both these areas.

Although we have quite the selection of fiction books to read, our non-fiction section is severely limited. The non-fiction and historical books we do have available are in constant rotation between students since there are so few to go around.

This project would provide our classroom library with books that cover a variety of historical and scientific topics that my students are interested in. These books would also provide us with the tools necessary to do cross-curricular projects that help develop our literacy and research skills in science and social studies as well as reading and language arts.
