Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are a wonderfully diverse group of learners. They come to school ready and eager to learn. Each student has his/ her own strengths and areas they can improve on, and I delight in the opportunity and challenge to teach every student in a unique way so they can learn.

When you come into our classroom environment, you will feel welcomed and loved.

Even though most of my students have socioeconomic struggles, there's no mistaking that this is THEIR classroom! We have started a morning greeting where the students choose which greeting they want that day and I lovingly deliver. This has proved to be a great way to start our day with a hug, fist bump, high five, or a special handshake.

One morning I was preoccupied and asked my students to come on in; They wouldn't move passed the door. Upon asking why they were still outside the door, they reminded me about our morning greeting. I come to work everyday ready to work with my wonderful students.

My Project

My students would benefit from the nutritional value and energy obtained through healthy snacks. This in turn will help in keeping students alert and focused throughout the day.

Whether a midday snack will help my students to simply feel energized or satisfied, they would benefit from a healthy snack; It’ll go a long way.

My students usually have to sustain their energy resources three to four hours from breakfast to lunch and then from lunch to dismissal. They usually are depleted of energy to focus after the first hour, and a healthy snack would be just the thing to do the trick.
