Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students at our school live in a beautiful, rural, mountain setting. Our student body is an even mix of Latino and Anglo students, many of whom move in and out of our community as part of the tourism industry.
At our school, student work on the pillars of character; and we strive to "ExPECT" (Executive functioning, Perseverance, Compassion, and Teamwork) the best of themselves and of each other.
Our students shine brightly in their differences and shared experiences. This project is another way to enhance classroom learning experiences using technology to augment general subjects. By purchasing these materials with Special Needs students in mind, we are creating opportunities for all kids to work together on high interest, high quality projects using innovation.
My Project
This tool/toy/spinner will enable our newest student to engage in all aspects of the school routine. This little friend could pick the next friend to have a turn, or even spin to pick the next color for a game of Candy Land.
You can create overlays for this spinner so that any child with impacted verbal expression can participate in a fun and meaningful way.
Engaging with this tool will make a lasting impression. These little friends will remember playing together and waiting to see who's turn is next. And this will be the start of their learning to connect with people beyond any perceived barriers.
