Help me give my students the XR18, and the Shure Microflex Microphone, so we can go beyond the walls of the school and perform at more community events. The XR18 also has recording capabilities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The guitar program at this school is still relatively new. We started building it 7 years ago and have spent a lot of time raising funds to expand it. The program has grown so much! The students are dedicated to learning the art of classical guitar, and enjoy being a part of this developing program.
Our student body is largely Hispanic, with many students who are still learning English.
The school is located in a rough area of the city, and we do not always have the best reputation. Programs like this are changing the image of inner-city schools. Being a part of a performing ensemble such as this creates a sense of community and belonging for the students within this struggling community. They encourage one another and hold each other accountable for their actions.
My Project
The great thing about this unit, the XR18, is that it’s capable of doing multiple things. Its main purpose is for live audio mixing. My students are often asked to perform at various events. However, often times the events require a sound system, and we don’t currently have a portable unit that we can take to these events. This unit is very portable because of its small size and it does not require connection to a mixing board. Instead, the sound mixing is done on an IPad! This unit would allow us to play at events that we have not been able to participate in due to a lack of a sound system.
In addition to being a live mixing console, it also has multiple recording capabilities.
Not only does the XR18 allow for live recordings, but it can also be used as an 18 channel audio recording interface. Having the ability to record will be such a great resource for my students. Recording will allow us to listen, self-reflect and critique our performances. We have always mentioned how cool it would be to have high quality recordings of the songs we learn. This unit would allow us to do just that.
Lastly, you can’t record or hear an ensemble without good microphones. I am hoping to get the Microflex MX202 Microphone. This microphone will be a great addition to the microphones we currently have.
