Help me give my students the Osmo Coding Jam Game, the Makey Makey Invention Kit, and NoteKnacks. These resources will help to promote collaboration, increase complex problem-solving skills, and creativity skills!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are highly intelligent, and are in need of hands-on STEM activities that will help to increase their problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and creativity! Some of my students are even discovering their creative composing potential with the app GarageBand!
Leading global employers agree that by 2020 the most important and in-demand skills will be complex problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity!
In order for leading major corporations to continue to thrive and grow it will be necessary to recruit innovative and creative thinkers to solve real-world problems!
Your investment will encourage and motivate my students to develop a love for learning, to think "outside the box" to solve real world problems, and to be academically competitive in this technological age.
My Project
My project will involve using hands-on STEM activities in music class! The Osmo Coding Jam will be used to teach coding with music. Students will learn to compose music by arranging Osmo's Coding Blocks into patterns.
The Makey Makey Kit will be used to make a banana piano and other creative projects.
NoteKnacks are wooden blocks that will be used to learn rhythm and meter. This tactile and kinesthetic kit has been likened to Cuisenaire rods which are used to teach math.
These STEM resources will enhance our music classroom, as well as engage, and inspire our students to learn to compose in different ways!
Please join me this March in celebrating "Music in Our Schools Month"!
