My Students

Do you ever remember a time when reading was difficult? Students in my room enjoy being read to because reading is difficult for them- they are engaged in reading when they enjoy it.

Students in my 3rd grade special needs classroom are hard workers.

They try very hard to read, but it is a struggle. They enjoy being read to and doing different reading activities- they really enjoy reading when they don't realize that's what they are doing (being read to)by a reading partner.

My Project

My students need 1 leapfrog tag reader and 6 tag books to help them read. They also need different reading fluency cards and comprehension passages to improve reading. Through being able to hear words and recognize them in print, students will be able to recall words and help them to become better readers. I'm requesting text that is at their reading level to prepare them for ITBS tests and focus on test taking skills and reading practice.

This project is important to me because I want students to enjoy reading and take reading everywhere they go.

With the tools I am asking for, students will see that reading can be enjoyable and it is something that can be done at anytime and anywhere.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
