I work with an unbelievable group of students. My students love to read and enjoy our school's art-focused curriculum. We serve a high ESL population and the majority of them qualify for majority Title I.
My students come from very diverse backgrounds and live in one of the most historic neighborhoods in Memphis.
The students that I work with are in grades: kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. As a counselor, I wear a lot of hats and get to serve these students in many ways.
I plan on using this new technology to design creative and hands-on activities for students. I also plan to use it to design individual and group counseling activities for students. In addition, I plan to use it to track how well our counseling program is doing, as well as, planning and implementing parent and teacher workshops.
I have to travel from class to class daily and not having a laptop is an issue.
I like to use all types of technology to help implement lessons. Using this laptop will allow me to create lessons and take them with me as I travel.
Students will use this laptop to sign up for counseling appointments, as well as to sign into individual and group counseling sessions. They will also use it to review character education presentations and to take counseling assessments.
Goals for students include using the laptop to track how their behavior is improving throughout the school year; using the laptop to test their understanding of character education lessons; to cut down on the time it takes students to sign up for direct counseling services; and for students to share the progress they have made in the classroom with their parents. To accomplish these goals I will be using Hallways 5 Management Software for School Counselors.
