Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember your favorite teacher in school? Did you have a kind and caring teacher? My students live in an unsafe urban area where they rarely play outside. Just about the only time they do play outside is during school. I need to encourage the love for the outdoors.
My students are mostly bilingual students of Hispanic background.
We also have white and African American students. Our school is a public school where 100% of the students receive a free lunch, a free breakfast, and a free supper if they attend the after school program.
My Project
With these resources I will be able to take my students outside to study what is really going on outside. They don't take the time to look around at the nature that is all around them. Since they live in such an urban setting they don't believe that nature is a part of their lives. I want to be able to help them to explore what is growing and living out in our school yard. Hopefully, this will get them interested in learning more about the outdoors.
This project is important because our youth today do not spend enough time outside playing.
If I can give them some quality time outside they may come to appreciate what nature gives us. In return they will respect the Earth and help to protect it for the future.
