Help me give my students the chance to learn how to run a small business. Our robotics team is always needing money for supplies, so we want to start a button business at school.
My students are from an area that was the home to the 101st paratroopers featured in HBO's Band of Brothers. The training camp has long since shut down and most of the industry that was here has also left. Every student in the school can receive free lunch and breakfast.
My students are strong, confident, creative thinkers who are working to make this world a better place for us all.
Our group consist of 60% young men and 40% young women. They are hungry to learn more about careers in robotics, computer programming, marketing, and how to work in a collaborative group. They work before school, at lunch, recess, and after school. They want to succeed.
This year we want to make our group more self-sufficient. Running a robotics team takes money and we would like to start a business to help offset the cost. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
My Project
My robotics team is always needing something, so rather than doing regular fund raising activities I want them to start a small business to raise funds. As a team we sat down and chose button making as a way we thought we could raise money.
The students will create a small business plan and set production and sales goals throughout the year.
We would like to make our team self-sufficient and at the same time learn just what it takes to run a business.
We will make and sell buttons during special weeks throughout the year, like Homecoming, Valentines Day, Christmas, and sports weeks where we play our rivals.
