Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn. ~ Albert Einstein
The 580 students who attend my inner city school are pretty special kids.
Though it would seem they have a lot going against them, they are pretty successful in school. My second grade class consists of 28 of those special kids. Many of them are learning our English language, a few are living with grandparents, and two belong to our weekend nutrition club where we provide food in a backpack to help feed the family. Though these circumstances could be seen as setbacks, I see them as reasons to inspire my students to be life-long learners! I maintain high expectations for each and every one of my students...and they always rise to those expectations!
My Project
I am requesting a charging station to charge our newly acquired iPad on a nightly basis. My students will be utilizing our iPad daily during center time, Math Reflex time, and Daily 5 time. Making sure our iPad is charged on a nightly basis will be very important in keeping our technology centers flowing continuously. I am also requesting a Kindle Fire for my students to use as another reading device during the school day. I plan on loading favorite books such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Magic Treehouse series.
Your help in providing these important items would be greatly appreciated.
You will play a key role in leveling the playing field in my job to promote life-long learners. Thank you for your support!
