My fifth-grade students are fun-loving, spirited, and smart. They are also very hard workers. They are eager to learn and are constantly absorbing new knowledge. They strive to reach their goals every day, and they are making great progress towards reaching these through out the school year!
Many parents in our neighborhood are dedicated to helping their children succeed, but extra materials and experiences may be difficult to afford.
This is because many of my students come from low-income homes and qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
While doing a lot of hands-on learning, we get quite messy while we learn each and every day! My students need an upright vacuum, a handheld vacuum, computer screen wipes, and other cleaning supplies to keep our classroom neat and tidy! My students view our classroom as a second home, and we all need to take more responsibility to keep it clean!
By assigning students “chores” to do in the classroom, like vacuuming and cleaning our desktop computers, my fifth graders will learn that cleaning up after themselves is an important part of growing up!
They’ll also learn to pitch in when needed and to work as a team to get work done faster.
