Do you remember indoor recess? A time full of board games galore and friendly competition? My students have yet to explore this world of board games and the friendly competition and fun that comes with it!
Our classroom has 20 excited, smart, and enthusiastic scholars who attend school daily in our fourth grade classroom.
Everyday these 20 scholars become mathematicians, scientists, historians, readers and writers; taking on each role with excitement and an eagerness to learn as much as possible and share their learning with each other.
As different as each of these 20 scholars are, from their family backgrounds to their favorite movie, we come together to make our fourth grade classroom a successful classroom community. Our diversity allows us to learn not only from the curriculum, but from each other, making every experience a learning opportunity.
As eager fourth graders, the world is ever changing around them. I am here to give them the tools and experiences they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
My Project
In the day and age of technology, my students are ALWAYS in front of some sort of 'gadget.' Whether it is a phone, a computer, or the TV, they are always being entertained with some sort of technology device. Personally, I love technology myself, however, I also love getting involved in a competitive game with a person right across from me.
It's easy on cold days, when we are required to have indoor recess, to turn on the computers and put on a movie. However, I want recess to be more than that. I want it to be another opportunity for my students to learn. An opportunity for my students to learn the social skills they will need as they grow up and leave my classroom.
I have requested the various board games, for this project, from Sorry to Guess Who? to Battleship and Chess to help my students learn these social and problem solving skills, while having fun!
As a teacher, the most important thing for me is to see my students succeed and grow as learners and people on a daily basis.
This project will help my students learn skills that will help them be successful not only this year, but in the future when they leave my classroom. Please help my students by donating to this project!
