This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are inquisitive, creative, enthusiastic, and intelligent. The students who choose to attend my school all have the goal of graduating from college and our curricula are designed to get them there.
Coming from low-income communities in Chicago, my students often do not have the same support at home as do the students who they compete with for spots at colleges and universities.
So, we try to make our school their "second home" and expose them to a diverse set of experiences and challenges.
My Project
The students in my AP Microeconomics courses are highly motivated and are excited about the opportunities economic understanding can provide. In class, we focus on simulating the materials so that students can see the connections between their lives and the theory.
As we near the AP exam in May, my students want to spend time learning test-taking skills and completing practice problems.
Unfortunately, often there is not enough time in class to give students the proper differentiation of test prep to meet their needs, while still keeping the course interactive and simulation-based. This subscription to Albert.io will allow students to focus on the areas they need to improve on and allow me to better monitor individual student growth.
